Wow. Monday sure did come fast again this week, didn't it? As James Taylor sings in Walking Man, "the frost is on the pumpkin" in my neck of the woods. Fall is upon us and is the time for warm cozy sweaters, inside gatherings and breathing in the cool crisp air. Which brings me to our topic for today: inspiration.
The Latin origin of inspire means to breathe in, to inhale. By that definition, we are inspiring all the time! Taking a slightly different look, (a #reframe) at inspiration, on a daily basis we are inspiring the air we breathe, the media we consume, the people with whom we interact. We are constantly inspiring, sifting through the 34 Gigabytes of information we are exposed to every day.
Which brings me to the following questions:
Who inspires you? Who breathes you in?
What are you offering to them? What messages or behaviors are you putting out into the world?
Are they messages and behaviors of kindness, love, compassion, or are they something else?
Maybe you've never thought of it quite this way before. Admittedly, I hadn't until very recently when someone shared the origin of inspiration. It was a game changer for me.
This week, my suggestion is to reflect on the questions above. Who inspires you? Who are you inspiring? What is it like to be on the other side of you? Maybe it will be a game changer for you too.
Until next time, be well.
