Happy September! As fall begins to whisper in the air, I invite you to join me for a virtual superhero playdate. Hopefully, it will be a whimsical trip down memory lane filled with happy thoughts of simpler times when your cares were few and you could imagine yourself to be anything your mind (and friends) could come up with. Maybe you imagined yourself as a superhero with superpowers. From what I can remember, my childhood superpowers included becoming invisible (cloak optional), the ability to fly, and the ability to somehow turn into a large cat.
For our superhero playdate today, I invite you to momentarily press pause on your stresses and pressures, and to enter into a space of remembering what it felt like to imagine, to dream and to play without limits, where anything was possible and you could be anything you wanted to be. Take a moment to pause and reflect on those times, maybe closing your eyes, taking a few deep breaths to help take you there.
Now, I invite you to bring that limitless feeling forward into your awareness and current reality of adulthood for the #reframe. If you're familiar with my work, you probably saw this coming.
Lately, the concepts of #mindset, expansive thinking, and superpowers have converged for me. I don't think this is coincidental. Why? Because they are interconnected and we all have superpowers! Our adulthood superpowers may or may not resemble those we envisioned when we were kids, but they've been with us our whole lives. Superpowers are synonymous with our innate gifts, talents, and special qualities that make each of us unique. They are beautiful. You may also have heard the term superpowers referred to as your "secret sauce." Mindset and the way we think are also critical to unlocking and unleashing our superpowers to realize our full potential. If you're not sure what your superpower is, how do you find out?
Luckily, there's a book for that! I highly recommend the book The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks. The Big Leap provides tools for identifying your limiting mindsets and behaviors to (re)awaken your superpowers for you to become the fullest expression of all you were created to be. I won't spoil the ending for you, but will share that it's worth the read! A special shout out of gratitude to my Bonus Mom for recommending it to me.
That's it for today. Thank you for joining me on this virtual superhero playdate. I hope it was fun for you! In addition to the recommended reading, this week's suggested reflection is:
What is your superpower? How can you bring it forward to enrich your work, daily interactions and relationships? What superpowers can you see in others?
Until next time, be well.
