Check (in with) Yourself!

"Self-Care Sunday" is something that I have been practicing since being introduced to the concept a few years ago. I love it! I thought it was a radically cool and new way of thinking about self-care. Apparently, I was late to the party (story of my life?) according to the Google search that returned over 535 million results!

As the title suggests, "Self-Care Sunday," is about doing a little something "extra" to care of yourself. Self-care can come in many forms from simple to extravagant, but the emphasis is on renewing, restoring, recharging your energies, and caring for yourself. Over my first cup of coffee this Monday morning (yes, I will have another), I started wondering why self-care should be limited to just one day. I immediately concluded that it shouldn't, that self-care should be a daily practice, and that we should do a little something extra for ourselves every day! Many of us are busy caring for others and could benefit from a little time out or a "check in" with ourselves on a daily basis.

In the interest of keeping this last August post short and sweet, I encourage you to take a pause, check in with yourself, and ask yourself what you need in terms of a little extra self-care. Then do it. Every day. Perhaps even making it a part of setting your daily intention. You're worth it!
